Garbage Service

Garbage service description of the program and options available

The Town of Lenroot and the State of Wisconsin strongly encourages separation of recyclable items to reduce the volume going into landfill sites. In addition, composting some food items will further reduce volume and your costs for garbage services.

Lenroot does not have a contracted garbage service nor does it operate a transfer site. Landowners can contract directly with Republic Services, 16119 W Nursery Road, Hayward, WI 54843, (715) 234-7744 to arrange for weekly garbage and recycling pickup. (Note: during the spring season when town roads have a posted weight limit of no more than 6 tons, you may need to bring garbage to specified drop off sites as heavy garbage trucks will not be allowed.)

A second option is to bring garbage to the Town of Hayward transfer site on Chippewa Trail. See the attached link for more details. https://townofhayward.com/garbage-disposal/

Construction debris can be taken to Thompson Sand and Gravel 16684 W US Hwy 63, Hayward (715-634-3139).

Additionally, items such as refrigerators, electronics, oil, furniture, beds, paint, hazardous waste, and construction debris cannot be included in household garbage. See Republic Services or the Town of Hayward web site for options.

Lenroot is a rural township in bear country. Be aware that garbage will attract bears that will try to eat your garbage and in the process make a big mess. Keep garbage cans covered and inside if possible between pickups.

Burning Permits – Outdoor burning is by permit only when the ground is not snow covered.  Regulations and permits can be obtained at the Wisconsin DNR web site at: https://dnr.wi.gov/burnpermits/
